According to authorities, the robbery occurred during the afternoon at the Miami Subs located on State Road 7 and Griffin Road.
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects locked two employees inside a closet. Another employee was locked in a store freezer.
Once the victims were locked away, the suspects reportedly ran out of the store and fled the scene on a motorcycle. According to police, the suspects “sped off southbound along State Road 7.”
When Davie FL police officers arrived at the scene, they found the victims still locked inside the sandwich shop.
Thankfully, no customers were inside the store when the robbery occurred. However, some of the employees did suffer minor injuries. The victims were treated at the scene by members of Davie Fire Rescue.
The Davie Police Department is actively investigating the theft.
If the suspects are eventually identified and located, they could face serious criminal charges for armed robbery and weapons offenses. As set forth by Florida Statutes Section 812.13, robbery with a firearm or other deadly weapon is a first degree felony. A conviction on first degree armed robbery charges could result in a life sentence in Florida State Prison.
